SCHÜCO ASE 60 / 80 (Lift-Slide Doors)

Schüco ASE 60 and ASE 80 HI are modular aluminum lift-slide door systems that share the same design language and hardware family but offer two performance levels. Both systems combine slim face widths, concealed fittings, and smooth lift-slide operation to create large glazed openings with a clean, contemporary look. ASE 60 is a high-insulation option suitable for most energy-efficient homes, while ASE 80 HI adds a deeper 80 mm vent profile and enhanced insulation for projects that require lower U-values and thicker glass packages, including designs that aim for passive house performance. The shared platform enables Eagle View Glass to install panels up to approximately 3500 x 3500 mm and weighing up to 500 kg per vent, with tested air, water, and wind ratings that suit exposed British Columbia locations.

Notable Features

The ASE 60 / ASE 80 HI family is built around a modular, scalable profile system that allows for standardization of hardware, tracks, and accessories while tailoring performance to each project. Both systems offer level thresholds that create a flat transition between inside and outside, which is important for accessibility and for patios or decks that sit flush with interior floors. Concealed fittings and a reduced DesignLine interlock section enable the frame to recede visually, creating the illusion of a continuous glass surface.

The 80 mm HI variant features extended thermal breaks and deeper profiles, supporting higher-performance glass and pushing Uw values into passive-house territory on suitable configurations, while maintaining the same visual language as ASE 60. Both systems support the same comfort options, including soft closing technologies and high-quality running gear, which help large panels move easily and close with consistent compression on the seals.

Recommended Applications

ASE 60 HI is well-suited to energy-efficient single-family homes, townhomes, and condominium projects across Metro Vancouver and the rest of British Columbia. It works especially well in renovations that replace older, drafty sliders with a higher-performing lift-slide system without a major change in wall build-up.

ASE 80 HI is a better fit for high-performance envelopes that target very low energy consumption, for large openings in custom homes, and for projects in colder or more exposed locations that benefit from thicker glass and lower U-values. Both systems can be used on the same building, for example, ASE 80 HI on primary living spaces with the largest openings and ASE 60 HI on secondary patios or smaller spans, while maintaining a consistent design.

Key Specs

  • ASE 60 with basic outer frame depths of approximately 140 mm or 220 mm, depending on track configuration; ASE 80 HI with basic outer frame depths of approximately 180 mm or 280 mm.

  • ASE 60 doors can achieve Uw values in the range of approximately 1.4–1.7 W/m²K, depending on size and glass type; ASE 80 HI typically improves this to around 1.1–1.5 W/m²K, with some configurations achieving Uw values close to or below 1.0 W/m²K.

  • Both systems are designed for double and triple glazing; ASE 80 HI accepts thicker glass units to support higher insulation and acoustic performance.

  • Vent sizes up to approximately 3,500 mm wide by 3,500 mm high, and vent weights up to 500 kg, are possible on both systems, depending on the configuration and glass type.

  • Slim interlock sections and narrow sash profiles create a minimalist frame appearance, allowing the glass area to dominate. The DesignLine interlock option further reduces visible profile width.

  • Air permeability up to Class 4, watertightness up to Class E900, and wind load resistance up to Class C5/B5, with tested burglar resistance up to RC2 for the ASE 60 / 80 HI platform.

  • Lift-slide operation with level threshold options for barrier-free access, plus optional Schüco SmartStop and SmartClose technology for controlled closing and improved handling. Concealed fittings support a clean appearance even when the doors are open.
